Beijing, August 12 (KCNA) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao Thursday met the visiting general-director of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Irina Bokova, in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, and discussed the country's cooperation with the international organization.

The president said UNESCO has done much creative work and played an important role in promoting education and developing science, technology and cultural traditions in many countries.

China pays a top priority to cooperation with UNESCO and will support and join the organization in promoting all-people education and preserving the world's cultural and natural heritages, he added.
