Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions held a press conference at the plaza of the Seoul City Office on August 11 at which it called upon the people from all walks of life to turn out in the action to build a new society where the workers have become its master.

Speakers at the press conference deplored that the rights to assembly and demonstration, freedom of expression and right to job are being ruthlessly trampled down under the present "government".

All the illegal acts and suppression are rampant in south Korea because the authorities are defending the big businessmen cracking down on workers and indicting members of teachers and government employees trade unions en masse, they charged.

In order to bring about a new society, people from all walks of life should struggle in unity, they held.

They urged the authorities to withdraw the reckless measure for lay-off against workers and stop the politically-motivated suppression.
