Puppet Shows Contribute to Children's Intellectual Development

Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Puppet Company has created nearly 100 puppet plays and given more than 9 740 performances. Among them are many-act, two-act and one-act plays and puppet plays like "The Bell Does Not Ring", "Footprint of Rabbit", "Garden Balsam", "Kind Heart of Third Son", "Un Dong" and "Pig Ate Stone" which are based on stories told by the three brilliant commanders of Mt. Paektu -- President Kim Il Sung, leader Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk. The puppet play "Diligent Man and Idler" was awarded the Bucharest City Prize at the 3rd International Puppet Play Festival held in Romania in August Juche 54 (1965). The company's productions of different themes are conducive to children's intellectual development and entertainment. The company celebrated its golden anniversary on August 13. |
