Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- The Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises are criminal acts to do harm to the DPRK by force of arms under the guise of dialogue as they are a product of the U.S. and the south Korean authorities' invariable ambition to invade it. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a bylined commentary.

The south Korean warmongers tried hard to cover up the aggressive nature of these war maneuvers, claiming that they are "annual" and aim to "cope with threat." This, however, can never be justified.

As it was proved by the puppet forces' recent shelling in the area of Yonphyong Island, the military threat to the Korean Peninsula is coming to the north from the south.

It is reported that a U.S.-south Korea task force to be formed by the puppet military would stage exercises simulating operations and actual battles for "detecting and destroying the north's WMDs" in case of someone's "contingency."

Administrative bodies will reportedly be involved in these exercises to conduct "operations to stabilize the north and transfer power to civilians." This tells that the on-going UFG is drills for an actual war to seize the north and realize the ambition to "unify systems".

The south Korean authorities are stepping up the war preparations to do harm to the north by force of arms under the signboard of dialogue.

With no rhetoric can they hide the criminal nature of this saber-rattling threatening the peace of the country and pushing the situation in the Korean Peninsula to a catastrophe.
