Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- The Jongbangsan Recreation Ground in Sariwon City, North Hwanghae Province, the DPRK has the Songbul Temple, one of the cultural relics associated with the Korean people's talents and wisdom. The temple is located at the foot of Chonsong Peak, the highest peak of Mt. Jongbang. It is known that the temple was built in 898 and rebuilt in the period of Koryo, an ancient state of Korea (918-1392). The temple includes six buildings -- Kukrak, Ungjin and Myongbu halls, Chongphung and Sansin pavilions and Unha Shrine -- and a five-storey stone pagoda. The Kukrak Hall, rebuilt in 1376, is a one-storey building with a gabled roof. The Ungjin Hall was reconstructed in 1327. The pagoda is standing in front of the Kukrak Hall. |
