Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The Nigerian government is committed to ensuring peace in the country, with particular attention to the northeastern part of the country, Minister of Defense Bello Mohammed has said.

Bello gave the assurance on Thursday in Abuja during a news conference, adding that efforts were being made to make the armed forces civilian friendly in their approach to security issues.

He said the armed forces were doing well in protecting lives and property in various theatres of internal security and peace keeping operations.

"Let me stress that the Federal Government is committed to maintaining peace and order and will not allow any miscreant to thwart this effort under whatever guise," the minister said.
