Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- A celebration meeting of agricultural workers took place in Tongbong-ri, Hamju County, South Hamgyong Province Friday to mark the 51st anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of the Songun revolutionary leadership.

Present there were Ri Myong Gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, Ju Song Il, secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned and agricultural workers.

At the meeting a reporter and speakers said that Kim Jong Il started his Songun revolutionary leadership through his field guidance to the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su 105 Guards Tank Division of the Korean People's Army on August 25, Juche 49 (1960). This was a noteworthy event that provided an epochal turn in developing the revolutionary armed forces of Korea and carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche, they stressed.

General Kim Jong Il is the peerlessly illustrious commander of Songun as he tided over the difficulties with his matchless courage and pluck and put our country on the position of a world military power, they added.

They referred to the need to remain faithful to the Songun leadership of the Party, cherishing the faith that victory in building a prosperous and powerful country and the eternal prosperity of Kim Il Sung's Korea are guaranteed by the way they hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem.
