Beijing, August 18 (KCNA) -- Promoting harmonious labor relations serves as a foundation of social harmony, said a senior Chinese official.

Addressing a national meeting on the forming of harmonious labor relations held in Beijing from Monday to Tuesday, Vice President Xi Jinping said it is also a requisite to strengthening the Communist Party's ruling basis and consolidating its ruling position.

He urged party committees and government bodies at all levels to improve labor law and regulations, ensure their implementation and solve labor disputes so as to promote social harmony.
