Pyongyang, August 20 (KCNA) -- Minjok Tongsin, an Internet newspaper run by Korean Americans, published an article titled "Let us bring about a true liberation of the country with the effort of our nation!" on Monday.

August 15 is the 66th anniversary of the Korean liberation from the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule, the article said. But the Korean nation has suffered from the division of the country for more than half a century.

In order to put an end to the tragedy, Koreans have held pro-reunification events to mark August 15, the article said, adding:

But the present chief executive of south Korea, since he came to power, has pursued an anti-reunification and confrontation policy, impeding joint events of the compatriots at home and abroad.

The August 15 rally should serve as a new occasion for opening the way of peace and independent reunification in the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration adopted between the north and the south of the country.

All compatriots should pool efforts to judge the present south Korean regime and achieve a true liberation of the country.
