Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- Ri Sun Sin (1545-1598) was a famous admiral who distinguished himself in sea battles.

Ri, well up in both literary and military arts, had taken important posts in the naval forces from February 1591.

In particular, he made a turtle-shaped iron-clad warship, the first of its kind in the world, to greatly contribute to the Imjin Patriotic War (Apr. 1592-Nov. 1598).
