Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- A performance was given by the art squad of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League at the plaza of the Party Founding Memorial Tower Thursday on the 51st anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's start of Songun revolutionary leadership.

The performance began with a narration and chorus "Glory to General Kim Jong Il." The performers extended hearty congratulations to Kim Jong Il, representing the reverence of all young people of the country.

A female solo "The Sound of the General's Footsteps" sung with ardent longing for Kim Jong Il and other numbers mesmerized the audience.

A mixed chorus "Youths, Forward under the Leadership of the Party" and "Song of Korean Youth March" and other numbers vividly represented the heroic spirit and revolutionary optimism of the youths in the Songun era.

Meanwhile, a performance was given by members of the art group of the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace.

Among the audience were Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Yong Chol, first secretary of the C.C., the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, and others.

Their repertoire included a prologue "Long Live Sun of Songun", yanggum recital and high-pitched flute recital "The Dear General Star beyond the Clouds" and dance and story-telling "General Goes to Front While Children Go to Camp."
