Beijing, August 24 (KCNA) -- The 7th meeting of commending young people for scientific and technological innovations was held in Beijing on Monday.

Addressing the meeting, Wang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, said young people should combine the thought of creating new things with social practice as required by Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

In this way, they should prepare themselves to be reliable heirs to the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the vice-chairman said.
