Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- Organizations of France and Democratic Congo denounced the U.S. and the south Korean authorities for staging the Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises.

The France-Korea Friendship Association in an appeal on August 19 said that they are misleading public opinion, claiming UFG is one of "defensive" nature but it is saber-rattling for a war of aggression against the DPRK, to all intents and purposes.

The DPRK solemnly declared it had no choice but to bolster its nuclear deterrent for self-defence both in quality and quantity to cope with the situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula, the appeal said, and went on:

We demand an immediate stop to the provocative UFG against the DPRK to cope with the situation where peace and security on the Korean Peninsula are being gravely threatened.

We call upon the progressive forces and peace-loving forces of the world to take an active part in the international signature campaign for urging an early conclusion of a peace treaty in the Korean Peninsula.

The Working Citizens' Association of Democratic Congo in a statement on August 18 noted that UFG is a very provocative act of defying the strong warnings of the DPRK and the will of the world peace-loving people.

With no rhetoric can the U.S. and the south Korean warmongers justify their military provocations against the DPRK, it said.

The U.S. should stop at once the joint military exercises against the DPRK, respecting the unanimous will of progressive mankind aspiring after peace, conclude a peace treaty with the DPRK and normalize the relations with it, it urged.
