Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) --The Foreign Ministry of Belarus recently announced that the country would stop nuclear cooperation with U.S. and freeze the highly-enriched nuclear fuel exchange plan.

According to the director of the ministry's Information Department, the announcement was a countermeasure to the U.S. decision to impose new economic sanctions on Belarus.

The director termed the decision unfounded and illegal.
