Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The Mexican Institute for the Study of the Juche Idea issued bulletin No. 80 on the 63rd birthday of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The bulletin carried a photo of General Secretary Kim Jong Il giving field guidance to the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex with an article titled "In a matter of just 14 years".

These words "In a matter of just 14 years" denote an extraordinarily rapid speed of economic development in the DPRK, the bulletin said, and went on:

The Korean War forced by the U.S. imperialists in the 1950s severely destroyed the economy of the young DPRK.

The U.S. imperialists perpetrated indiscriminate bombing and bombardment against this country, completely reducing cities and villages to debris during the war. And they blustered that the DPRK was not able to stand on its feet even in a hundred years.

But the Korean people completed the rehabilitation in a brief span of time and embarked upon carrying out an epochal-making task of industrialization.

President Kim Il Sung visited the workers of the Kangson Steel Works in December 1956, kindling the torch of the Chollima Movement and making it rage throughout the country. As a result, the socialist industrialization was realized in a matter of just 14 years. This was a high rate of growth unprecedented in the world history of economic development.

The Korean people could not but experience the worst trial in the closing period of the last century.

Taking advantage of the collapse of the socialist countries in Eastern Europe the imperialist allied forces led by the U.S. ran wild to stifle the DPRK.

It was against this backdrop that the DPRK successfully launched satellite Kwangmyongsong-1 by its own efforts and technology, heralding the building of a great prosperous and powerful nation.

The Korean people united close around leader Kim Jong Il turned out as one in the struggle for defending socialism and building a thriving nation.

The Korean people will hit their target without fail in the near future and thus showcase history-making miracles once again before the whole world.

The DPRK is sure to reach the eminence of a thriving nation.
