Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- National day was marked in Ukraine on August 24.

President Viktor Yanukovych in a speech on this occasion said that the government will improve the well-being of Ukrainian people in the nearest future, strengthen the power organs to terminate irregularities and corruption and build more powerful Ukraine.

There was a parade of thousands of Ukrainians in Kiev on the day.

Concerts, flower festivals and other colorful events took place in different places.
