Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- The national scientific and technological symposium in the field of protecting natural environment took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Tuesday. It was to mark the 15th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's work "On Bringing about a New Turn in Land Administration".

Jong Yong Nam, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Nature Conservation Union of Korea, in his opening address said that the work serves as important guidelines to be held fast in land administration.

The symposium heard 17 papers of new idea and great value of introduction.

Appreciated were papers which contributed to successfully settling the scientific and technological issues arising in protecting bio-ecology, preventing the environmental pollution and increasing the resources of animals and plants. Papers dealing with the ways of protecting forest and soil through combined forestry-agriculture administration and breeding new flower species were also favorably commented upon at the symposium.
