Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, provided field guidance to Ryongrim County.

The county is situated on the bank of the upper reaches of Jangja River east of Jagang Province. Soldier builders and people in the county built new modern cultural and service facilities including the county house of culture, comprehensive welfare service facilities and a wading pool through a vigorous labor drive, changing its appearance beyond recognition.

He first went round the wading pool.

He said that the wading pool is of weighty importance in bringing up school youth and children to be pillars of the country equipped with knowledge, good moral character and good health and ensuring a happy life of the people in the county, stressing the need to manage it effectively.

Then he moved to the Ryongrim County House of Culture.

Going round the exterior and interior of the fashionable house built to meet the modern aesthetic need, he acquainted himself in detail with its construction and management.

He underlined the need to organize well various events at the house to provide the working people with an ample cultural and emotional life and put its operation on a regular basis to meet the daily growing cultural requirements of the people.

The cultural and service facilities including the newly built wading pool and the house of culture are associated with the warm sincerity devoted by servicepersons to the people, he noted, repeatedly praising the soldier builders for fully displaying the beautiful traits of helping the people and extended thanks to them.

After visiting several places in Ryongrim County, he set forth tasks to spruce it up well as required by the new century.

He noted that in order to build the county in a peculiar manner it is necessary to work out a long-term design and build all structures on the principle of protecting and adding to the beautiful natural scenery to suit the topographical features of the mountainous county.

He underscored the need to pay deep attention to the management of the already-built buildings and service facilities and, at the same time, minutely organize service and business activities so that the people may greatly benefit from them.

He expressed expectation and belief that the officials, party members and other working people of the county would positively learn from the revolutionary soldier spirit fully displayed by the servicepersons of the KPA in every site of grand socialist construction and thus perform proud labor feats in turning their county into a socialist land of bliss.

He was accompanied by senior officials of the party and army Kim Jong Un, Ri Yong Ho, Kim Yong Chun, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Jong Gak, Pak To Chun and Thae Jong Su.
