Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- A slow-moving typhoon triggered a landslide that killed two children Saturday as the storm made landfall and drenched most of the northern Philippines, officials said. The predawn landslide triggered by Typhoon Nanmadol buried a hillside house, killing a 6-year-old girl and her 5-year-old brother in Pangasinan province's San Fabian township, civil defense officials said. Typhoon hit Pangasinan and Catanduanes provinces and Baguio City, leaving six dead and two others wounded and paralyzing traffic as of August 27. A 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit Mongolia's southern Gobi Province that day, destroying houses and causing other damage. Heavy rains hit Oyo State, Nigeria on August 26 and 27, leaving 12 people and 5 others missing destroying bridges. |
