Beijing, August 31 (KCNA) -- Jilin Province, one of the three provinces in Northeast China, is the historic land which President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il visited several times, bringing the flower garden of the DPRK-China friendship into full bloom.

Changchun City of Jilin Province, in particular, is a city of friendship which the peoples of the two countries always remember. The President visited Northeast China in September of 1964 and met with Premier Zhou Enlai. Kim Jong Il cordially met and had talks with General Secretary Hu Jintao in August of last year. It was revisited by Kim Jong Il again in May this year.

He visited Jilin Province again on August 27 on his way home after wrapping up his visit to Russia.

There are many time-honored revolutionary battle sites and historic sites including Jilin associated with the brilliant history of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle of Kim Il Sung in the area of Jilin Province.

The province has made rapid progress in various fields thanks to the great attention of the Communist Party of China and the devoted struggle of the people there.

It tops the nation's list of producers in varieties of products in equipment, automobiles, and chemical fiber.

Recent years witnessed the construction of express highways in various sections. Their total length increased to 1 850 kilometers.

The railway project for trains running at the speed of 250km per hour was completed to link Changchun with Jilin and opened to traffic in January of this year. This is the first high-speed one in Northeast China.

A work is now under way to reconstruct the already existing areas under irrigation, improve waterways and introduce the technology of saving water for irrigation.

Ecological circumstance has been improved as a result of afforestation.

Forests covering 116 000 ha have been created over the last decade.

Whenever Kim Jong Il visited Jilin Province, he highly appreciated the signal successes made by the province under the leadership of the CPC and wished it new success in the struggle for the prosperity of the country and the well-being of its people.

The people in the province are turning out as one in the struggle to carry out the long-term goal during the 12th five year plan.

The province will take on a new appearance on the road of advance for the socialist modernization drive with Chinese characteristics and convey the tradition of the historic DPRK-China friendship to posterity.
