Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- The British Branch of the Korean Friendship Association made public a statement on August 26 to mark the 51st anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of the Songun revolutionary leadership.

The statement said:

Kim Jong Il started his Songun leadership by visiting the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su 105 Guards Tank Division of the Korean People's Army on August 25, 1960.

His Songun leadership means the inheritance of President Kim Il Sung's idea and line of attaching importance to arms and military affairs.

The U.S. dares not provoke the DPRK and a new war has not broken out on the Korean Peninsula because of the immensely great power of Songun.

The Songun politics serves as a powerful driving force for achieving the country's reunification in an independent and peaceful way and a great political mode leading socialism to victory.

It is the Songun politics that raised the international position of the DPRK.

The recent historic visits of Kim Jong Il to Russia and China actually prove this.
