Havana, September 2 (KCNA) -- Cuba is directing efforts to using solar energy.

The island country can install one and a half million square meters of solar heaters to heat up water in houses, industries and service centers.

The figure would represent 37.5 percent of the hot water Cuba needs.

Cuba has some 6 400 solar heaters now.
