Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- One August day of Juche 35 (1946), after celebrating the first anniversary of the country's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule, President Kim Il Sung told officials that as the people took the power and were building a new society, they should have national anthem.

The President said the national anthem should reflect the people's homage to and ardent love for the country, and gave detailed instructions concerning its words and melody.

He said the song should be based on the facts that Korea is a beautiful country with a 5 000-year history and brilliant culture and that the Korean people were working hard for the prosperity of the nation.

The creators composed the song as instructed by the President.

He attended an audition session of the national anthem in June next year. Listening to the melody of the song, the President said it would be better to repeat the part praising the brilliant culture and long history of the country.

The song, completed under deep care of the President, has been heard in different parts of Pyongyang with the approach of the national day, September 9.
