Opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" Staged More than 190 Times

Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- Performance of opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" is going on before full houses at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre everyday. The opera was created and completed in a short span of time by the famous Phibada Opera Troupe of the DPRK. It is drawing large audience as it was successfully adapted from an ancient folk legend of China. The opera has been staged more than 190 times since its premiere in October last year. It was appreciated by a total of over 200,000 people here and in local areas and foreigners including Chinese tourists. The audience is deeply impressed by a high level of acting by new faces that played main and minor parts and splendid stage decor. Audiences are fascinated by such gorgeous dances as candlelight and butterfly dances. Credit for such success goes to Chinese experts who gave sincere help in stage decor, costumes, manufacture of properties, etc. The creating staff is making efforts to further perfect the opera by preserving well the peculiarity of music through the combination of a hogung, Chinese national instrument. The performance of the opera which lasts two and quarter hours begins at 16 (local time) and (at 15 Sunday) everyday. |
