Kim Jong Il's Oath to Glorify Korea

Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- "O Korea, I Will Add Glory to Thee" -- This is the oath General Secretary Kim Jong Il made on Ryongnam Hill on the Kim Il Sung University campus on September 1, Juche 49 (1960) when he started studying at the university. Since then he has devoted himself to implementing the oath. During his university days, he expounded the leader's position and role in the revolutionary struggle and proved the originality of President Kim Il Sung's revolutionary ideas. His start of work in the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) was a turning point for him in carrying his oath into practice. He declared the modeling of the whole society on the Juche idea as the supreme program of the WPK and has encouraged the army and people to turn out in the building of a thriving nation through his continuous inspection tours of army units, industrial establishments and all areas of the country. Under his wise leadership, they have made tremendous achievements, including the launch of satellites, construction of large hydropower stations and monumental edifices, rezoning of most rice fields, building of nature-driven waterways and modern stockbreeding and fruit production bases and production of steel, fibers and fertilizers with materials and fuel available in the country. |
