Moscow, September 8 (KCNA) -- The Russian foreign minister recently underscored the need to maintain the existence of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Citing to the fact that all the member nations of the CIS support and joint in its activities, Sergei Lavrov said the fact confirms the necessity of its existence.

CIS's activities are valuable for organs concerned in implementing many plans to solve the crime, extremism, terrorism and immigration issues, he added.
