DPRK's Birthday Celebrated in Different Countries

Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Meetings, photo exhibitions and film shows took place in Laos, India and Switzerland on Sept. 2 and 3 on the 63rd anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

On display in the venues were photos on the undying feats President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il performed by founding and strengthening the DPRK.

Films shown included Korean films "Korean People's Army, Steel-Strong Ranks" and "Arms of Korea".

The chairman of the Switzerland-Korea Committee in a speech said that Kim Il Sung's founding of the DPRK was a historic event which enabled the Korean people, who had been subjected to feudal exploitation and lived under the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists, to have their genuine motherland.

The director of the Indian Institute for Foreign Policy Studies noted that Kim Il Sung, basing himself on the Juche idea, set forth the original idea and theory of nation-building centred on the popular masses, built a new type regime and strengthened it into a powerful weapon for accomplishing the socialist cause.

The deputy secretary of the Bolikhamsai Provincial Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party said that the Korean people have invariably defended the principles of independence in politics, self-support in economy and self-reliance in national defence under the banner of the Juche idea, thus winning only victories. This serves as precious experience for the Lao party, government and people defending the country and building socialism, he added.

A congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the event in Switzerland.
