S. Korean Authorities' Fascist Suppression under Fire
|
|
Pyongyang, September 11 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities recently hurled over 1 000 police into Kangjong village on Jeju Island, ruining it. They also took away at least 30 people opposed to the naval base construction and members of civic and social organizations supporting their action. Minju Joson Sunday says in a bylined commentary in this regard: The south Korean authorities are making desperate efforts to build a naval base on the island, reminding one of the tragic April 3 Uprising in which the U.S. imperialist aggressors, puppet forces and right-wing gangsters brutally killed many people. Their moves to build the Jeju naval base are part of a scenario to launch a war of aggression against the north. The conservative forces seek to let the U.S. speed up war preparations against the north with its war means including nuclear-powered carriers and submarines kept in waters off the island. It is clear as noonday if the base is built, it would bring the constant danger of war to the Korean Peninsula and its vicinity and bigger damage to Jeju islanders. People are lifting up their voices for improved inter-Korean relations and peace. However, the puppet warmongers are working hard to turn the island, known as a peaceful island, into a base for a war of aggression, not content with offering the U.S. imperialist aggressors many military bases. They are, indeed, a group of traitors keen on confrontation with fellow countrymen against reunification and peace. The construction of the base should never be allowed as it destabilizes the region including the peninsula and Northeast Asia. The south Korean authorities had better stop at once the construction of the naval base, facing up to the trend of the times. |
