Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- Various organizations in south Korea lodged a protest on Thursday with the puppet group against its act of deceiving people by working out two different documents to push forward the Jeju naval base construction.

The South Korean Measure Council for Checking the Construction of the Jeju Naval Base held a press conference at which it declared it was very shocking that the basic contract on the naval base construction signed by the Jeju island side and the Defense Ministry was confirmed to have consisted of two different documents with divergent titles.

It is unpardonable that the military authorities deceived the people by working out two different documents in a bid to calm down the opposition of the people and go ahead with the construction, the organization stated, and continued:

It is nothing but rhetoric for the military authorities to assert that the naval base might be used by civilians, too.

The organization demanded the construction undertaken in accordance with the illegal contract be halted at once.

The All-Islanders Measure Committee for Checking the Jeju Military Base and the Kangjong Village Association made public a joint statement titled "Stop at once the Jeju naval base construction undertaken on the basis of the charade to deceive the people."

The statement accused the military authorities of pushing forward the project despite the disclosure of the above-said fact which sparked an uproar.

It is shameless, indeed, for the authorities to suppress the legitimate right of the inhabitants under the pretext of law enforcement, though they had begun the illegal project, it noted, and continued:

It was fully disclosed this time that the above-said project failed to properly go through any procedure.

The statement demanded the authorities immediately stop the project as it hurts the lives of the Jeju islanders and set free the illegally detained protesters against the construction.
