Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- The 17th World Taekwon-Do Championship was held at the Taekwon-Do Hall in Pyongyang from September 8 to 12.

Kim Sung Hwan, vice-chairman of the Korean Taekwon-Do Committee and secretary general of the organizing committee of the current championship, told KCNA:

The championship, held under the slogan of justice, peace, friendship and unity, served as a good occasion in widely popularizing the Korean nation's traditional martial art and invigorating exchange and cooperation among Taekwon-Do players all over the world.

All the matches and ceremonies of the championship took place on a high level. The championship has been recorded as a significant event in the history of the Taekwon-Do development.

I will do my best for the development of Taekwon-Do, with pride in living in its native country.
