Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- National food restaurants in Pyongyang are visited by many people to take Pyongyang Onban (cooked rice served in chicken soup) on Monday, the Harvest Moon Day. Pyongyang Onban is one of the national dishes favored by the Korean people from ancient times. Onban owes its origin to the Korean people's eating habits with cooked rice and soup as a staple food. In olden times, people in Pyongyang area served guests with the dish in wedding parties and it gradually became popular in other areas. Many Onban restaurants have appeared in Pyongyang thanks to the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea for preserving and developing national dishes. |
