Moscow, September 13 (KCNA) -- Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, visited the southern Kurils on Sunday.

During his visit, he had a consultative meeting with leaders of Sakhalin Region and inspected a frontier post on an island near Japan.

Discussed at the meeting were issues of regional security and infrastructure construction in the border area.
