Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- Songam Cavern is located in the suburbs of Kaechon City, South Phyongan Province.

The natural cavern boasts of myriad-shaped stalagmites and stone flowers made from dissolved and corroded limestone.

The cavern, with a main cave extending several thousand meters and scores of trunk caves, has some 70 amazing spots, redolent of an underground palace.

Leader Kim Jong Il, visiting the cavern in April Juche 91(2002), named the cavern and indicated ways of building it splendidly into a tourist resort.

Now the cavern is one of the country's famous tourist destinations.
