Educational Symposium on Kim Jong Il′s Work Held

Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- An educational symposium on the work of leader Kim Jong Il "Kim Chaek University of Technology Is Nation's Powerful Seat for Training Scientific and Technological Personnel" took place on Thursday to mark the 10th anniversary of his on-the-spot guidance to the university. The participants heard five papers which deeply explained and proved the originality, validity and vitality of the theory on training scientific and technological personnel propounded by Kim Jong Il. The speakers said the work of Kim Jong Il is an important work which made it possible to bring about a landmark turn in training scientific and technological personnel to meet the fresh requirement of the building of a thriving socialist nation. Hong So Hon, president of Kim Chaek University of Technology, noted the above-said work is precious guidelines as it indicated orientation and ways for training scientific and technological personnel in the new century and an important guiding principle helping the DPRK hold supremacy of the latest science by developing technology in different fields. Kim Kyun, first vice president of Kim Il Sung University, said: It is a basic duty of university education to train more scientific and technological personnel more qualitatively so that they may shoulder upon themselves the building of a thriving nation. What is important in the basic duty of university education is to strengthen education in science and technology and improve the teaching and education as required by knowledge-based economy. Ri Won Chol, vice president of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and Pae Tong Il, president of Pyongyang University of Construction and Building-Materials Industry, and other speakers called upon all the officials, teachers, researchers and students to make positive contributions to building a thriving socialist nation with high qualifications and scientific and technological achievements by taking the work of Kim Jong Il as guidelines to be held fast to in the educational and scientific work. Present at the symposium were Kim Yong Jin, chairman of the Education Commission, Song Ja Rip, president of Kim Il Sung University and minister of Higher Education, officials, teachers and researchers of universities in Pyongyang and teachers and students of Kim Chaek University of Technology. |
