Pyongyang, September 16 (KCNA) -- China's permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called for the resumption of the six-party talks on Wednesday.

Speaking at the ongoing session of the Board of Governors of the IAEA in Vienna, Cheng Jingye said the six-party talks are instrumental in propelling the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and safeguarding peace and stability in Northeast Asia. An early resumption of the talks conforms to interests common to parties concerned.

Cheng stressed that it is China's invariable stand to solve issues in a peaceful way through dialogue and negotiations.

China will maintain mutual understanding and coordination with parties concerned and the international community and make joint efforts with them to accelerate the denuclearization process of the peninsula and ensure a durable peace and stability in the region, Cheng added.
