Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- The Ssuksom Revolutionary Site in Rangnang District, Pyongyang, tells the idea of national unity advanced by President Kim Il Sung and the feats he performed in the effort for an independent and peaceful reunification of the country. In early May Juche 37 (1948), the President had a historic consultative meeting on Ssuk Islet in the Taedong River with south Korean participants in the April Joint Conference of Representatives of Political Parties and Public Organizations in the south and north of Korea. Seen in the revolutionary site are the United Front Tower made up of 56 granite pieces symbolic of the number of the political parties and public organizations that participated in the joint conference, and a tablet. The tower has the President's autograph reading "United Front Tower" inscribed on the front side and the names of the political parties and public organizations on the reverse side. The front side of the tablet bears the President's remarks about the significance of the joint conference and its backside the names of the participants in the joint conference. Preserved in the site are the spots where the President had the consultative meeting and a luncheon with leadership members of the joint conference, as well as ferry and boat used by them. |
