Anniversary of Sept. 18 Incident Observed in China

Beijing, September 19 (KCNA) -- The 80th anniversary of the Sept. 18 Incident caused by the Japanese imperialists was observed in various parts of China.

Displayed at the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War Memorial in Beijing on Sunday were more than 700 photos and material evidence disclosing the Japanese imperialists' invasion of China.

The "9.18 Incident" History Museum in Shenyang opened to the public new historical data about the incident.

There was a ceremony of blaring a siren in the square in front of the museum on the theme "Don't forget Sept. 18 incident." It was attended by thousands of soldiers and people in the three provinces of Northeast China.

Scholars' round-table talks were held in Nanjing City of Jiangsu Province.

They underlined the need to devote themselves to the modernization of the country in one mind, carrying forward the spirit displayed by forerunners in the anti-Japanese war and make positive efforts to achieve prosperity of the nation.

A concert featuring songs of the Allied Anti-Japanese Army was held in Harbin City of Heilongjiang Province with its veterans, martyrs' families and youth and students and people from all walks of life attending.

An oath-taking meeting was held in Changchun City of Jilin Province on Saturday, which called for remembering history and loving peace.

An exhibition and other events featuring the Japanese imperialists' invasion of China took place in the city on the same day.

A poem recital was held in Liaoning Province on Friday to mark the 66th anniversary of the Chinese people's victory in the anti-Japanese war and the 80th anniversary of the Sept. 18 Incident.

The People's Publishing House brought out and released book "China's History of Anti-Japanese War" dealing with the historic course in which the Chinese people won a victory in the anti-Japanese war.
