Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- A press conference took place at the Cuban embassy here Thursday as regards the issue of lifting of the U.S. blockade against Cuba and that of release of five Cuban patriots detained in U.S. prison.

Present there were Choe Han Chun, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea who doubles as chairman of the DPRK Committee for the Release of Cuban Patriots, mediapersons in Pyongyang and officials concerned.

On hand were officials of the Cuban embassy.

German Hermin Ferras Alvarez, Cuban ambassador to the DPRK, spoke there.

He said that the U.S. blockade against Cuba persists but it can never bring to their knees the Cuban people determined to protect sovereignty and independence.

He referred to the dynamic struggle for the release of Cuban patriots unreasonably detained in the U.S.

He called upon all the progressive forces in the world to extend positive support to the Cuban people in the future, too.
