Pyongyang, September 24 (KCNA) -- The Seoul High Court put on trial and inflicted heavy penalty on members of the Council for Promoting the Reunification of Our Nation by Federal Formula on Thursday, according to CBS and KBS of south Korea.

The court sentenced the permanent chairman of the 2nd council to 3-year imprisonment and 3-year suspension of qualification on the charge that he took part in the campaign for pulling down MacArthur's statue and other anti-U.S. activities at the "instructions of the north".

The court also sentenced the permanent chairman of the 3rd council and two other leadership members to imprisonment from 18 months to 2 years and a half on charges of joining an "enemy-benefiting organization".
