Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- The council of the United Confederation of Koreans in Russia held a special meeting on Thursday to congratulate leader Kim Jong Il on his successful visit to the Siberian and Far Eastern regions of Russia.

A speaker said at the meeting that Kim Jong Il visited the Siberian and Far Eastern regions of Russia in August, drawing special attention of the world.

During his visit he held talks with the top leader of Russia and exchanged views on important issues related to the development of the DPRK-Russia relations, he noted.

His visit to Russia was of great significance in boosting the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and protecting global peace and stability, he said, adding its vitality is being displayed.
