Pyongyang, September 27 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Mauro Cazadio and Organizational Secretary Domenico Probenzano of the Struggle for the Peace and Socialism of Italy issued a joint statement on Sept. 20 on the occasions of the 66th birthday of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 85th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU).

The statement said the WPK has covered the road of victory under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, recalling that its historic roots were provided by the President through the formation of the DIU in the mid-1920s.

The WPK is the great party guided by the Juche idea which was founded by the President and has been developed in depth by Kim Jong Il, the statement noted, adding that the WPK successfully carried out the anti-imperialist, anti-feudal democratic revolution and the socialist revolution, weathering all sorts of trials and difficulties and thus built a power independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence.

The WPK has led to victory the Korean people's cause of socialist construction, foiling the imperialist reactionaries' moves against the DPRK and defending the nation's dignity and sovereignty by dint of the great Songun politics, concluded the statement.
