Pyongyang, September 27 (KCNA) -- The Clothing Research Institute has celebrated its golden jubilee.

President Kim Il Sung founded the institute in September, Juche 50 (1961).

The institute has successfully carried out its mission as a center for scientific research into garments and a base for their supply.

It has deepened the study of physical constitutions of Koreans, establishing the system of sizes suited to them and realizing the standardization of garments.

It has also created and completed designs of a lot of garments and their samples, set standard, calculated per-unit cost and provided technical guidance.

It has newly laid down the principle of garment designing by the method of measuring the third dimension human body as required by the trend of developing garment industry and standardized and unified garment designing.

It developed computer programs for garment designing and controlling garment production processes, improving the quality of products and boosting labor productivity.

They are in wide use for standardizing Korean dresses and perfecting their designs and the method of processing them.

It produced many books and multi-media such as "National Dress", "Clothes for Different Seasons", "Design and Method of Needlework for Korean Dresses" and "Theory of Garment Sizes."

It produced several professors and doctors and the nation's first merited tailor.
