Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- Leading papers here Wednesday carry editorials on the first anniversary of the historic Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The Conference laid a solid foundation for preserving forever the revolutionary character of the WPK as the party of President Kim Il Sung, Rodong Sinmun says, and goes on:

The Conference held the President in high esteem as eternal leader of the WPK and the Korean people and reelected leader Kim Jong Il as general secretary of the WPK.

It also provided a new milestone for the Korean revolution.

The past one year was a year of excitement in which a fresh surge was made in all fields including politics, military affairs, economy and culture of the country.

The past one year witnessed great progress in implementing the WPK's plan for bringing about a decisive turn in improving the standard of the people's living and socialist construction.

The army and people of the DPRK have dynamically advanced to effect a great surge with firm faith that they can achieve sure victory if they fight, trusting the Party and rallied close round it despite manifold difficulties.

It is the most important task facing them at present to dynamically conduct an all-people nationwide general offensive in the run-up to the centenary of birth of the President.

The further the revolution and construction gain in depth and the more difficult and vast tasks face us, it is necessary to steadily increase the Party's leadership position and role. This is the truth proved by the drive in the one year since the Conference.

The hearts of the servicepersons and people in the DPRK are filled with the firm pledges they made at the day of glory when the historic Conference was held.

They will surely honor their pledges in any storm and stress and advance along the road of Songun revolution generation after generation.
