Pyongyang Grand Theatre

Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Grand Theatre is located on the banks of the picturesque River Taedong in Pyongyang. The theatre, with a crane-shaped roof, is a mixture of classical and modern beauties. The over 1 300-seat theatre has up-to-date sound and lighting apparatuses and good conditions necessary for artistic creation, performance and viewing. It also has public service amenities. The theatre has served as venues of congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and many other political events. The Revolutionary Opera "The Sea of Blood" was created at the theatre. The theatre was opened in August Juche 49 (1960) and was rebuilt in Juche 98 (2009). Performances of famous local and foreign art troupes, including the April Spring Friendship Art Festival, have taken place at the theatre. |
