Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- Haile-Mariam Dessalegn, Ethiopian foreign minister, addressing the UNGA session on Monday, called for the development of Africa.

He said that the global economic situation has deterred economic development.

"There is a need for a redoubled effort for the sustainable development of the continent so that the achievements of the MDGs (Millennium Development Goals) would not be frustrated," he said.

To eliminate starvation and poverty that hit the Horn of Africa, in particular, is an urgent issue to achieve the sustainable development of these countries and ensure peace and security in the continent, he stressed.
