Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) --Diverse events were held Saturday on the International Day of Old Persons. They were sponsored by the Central Committee of the Federation for the Care of the Elderly of Korea

Present there were officials of the Federation including Vice-Chairperson Ri Chol Hui, war veterans, aged people and bereaved children.

Unconverted long-term prisoners who are pro-reunification patriotic fighters and old persons spent pleasant rest in parks and recreation grounds here.

An angling competition and folklore amusement games took place on the bank of the River Taedong and in the Pothonggang recreation ground.

Those old persons were served food at catering establishments including Chongryu Restaurant and Pyongyang Noodle Restaurant before going to Kaeson Youth Park together with their grandsons and granddaughters.

They also enjoyed opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" at the Pyongyang Grand Theater and films.

Diverse events also took place in various parts of the country on the same occasion.
