Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- Pak Won Jak was a celebrated armourer of Koryo, the first united state of Korea (early 10th century-late 14th century).

Pak devoted his whole life to inventing and making a variety of arms.

Weapons of 24 kinds, including "Phaluno" made by Pak in 1032, were deployed in main walls throughout the country, according to "History of Koryo".

"Phaluno" was a three-arrow mechanical arbalest.

His inventions were greatly conducive to defeating invaders and defending the country.
