Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- Events took place in different countries between Sept. 19 and 28 to mark the 66th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 85th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU).

They included a meeting by the Socialist Party of Romania and seminars, photo exhibitions and film shows by the Ukrainian "Treasured Sword of Songun" Association for the Study of the Juche Idea, the Bangladesh Institute of the Juche Idea and the Nigerian Group for Self-Reliance Studies.

Displayed in the venues were works of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and photos on their revolutionary feats, books and photos on the true picture of the DPRK prospering under the leadership of the WPK.

Films shown included Korean film "Pyongyang at Night".

Vasile Orleanu, chairman of the Supreme Council of the Socialist Party of Romania, said that under the leadership of Kim Jong Il the WPK founded by Kim Il Sung has developed into an experienced and tested party which has led the Korean people to victory despite all challenges of history and an invincible party which enjoys absolute support and trust from the popular masses.

Nikolai Polishk, chairman of the Ukrainian "Treasured Sword of Songun" Association for the Study of the Juche Idea, noted that the President formed the DIU with members of the young vanguard and referred to the programme of the DIU. He went on:

The Korean revolution which started with the DIU has dynamically advanced under the banner of independence, Songun and unity for the past 85 years.

The DIU regarded unity as the lifeblood and carved out a new history of unity and cohesion centered on the leader.

M. Gamrul Huda, chairman of the Bangladesh Institute of the Juche Idea, stressed that the 60 odd year-long history of the WPK is a history of victory and glory in which it has brought about epoch-making changes by leading the people.

A congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the event in Ukraine.
