Natural Disasters in China, Vietnam, Cambodia

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- Typhoon recently swept Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. The typhoon hit the region on Sept. 29, forcing 132,200 inhabitants to evacuate, leveling many dwelling houses and destroying 257,900 hectares of farmlands as of October 2. A total of the victims were 2,119,000. Storm also hit Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam on Sept. 30. It left 300 dwelling houses destroyed, 11 ships and boats sunk, 11 fish farms ruined and 1,600 hectares of farmlands inundated. Flood damage is increasing in Cambodia. The flood that hit the country since mid-August left 148 persons dead and more than 130,000 dwelling houses and 817 schools inundated as of Sept. 30. At least 270,000 hectares of paddy fields and 100 km-long roads were damaged. |
