Moscow, October 3 (KCNA) -- Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin called for establishing the reading spirit in society.

Speaking at a congress of the Russian Book Union on September 28, he stressed that the intellectual potentiality and cultural standard of a nation depend on how many books the people read, what view of spiritual value and moral ethics the books are based on and how deeply the books make people think and analyze.

He said the reading spirit should be revived for the state and the future of the country, adding it is a nationwide task.
